2K Recruits Apex Legends Developer to Revitalize Troubled Hero Shooter Project Ethos

2K Games has welcomed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently working on the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Transition Follows Poor Feedback

The new appointee steps into the role of studio head at 31st Union following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' lackluster early showing last autumn.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer notified team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had indicated the requirement for a distinct direction.

The president stated that the team is now refining the project with a refreshed approach, aiming to better meet player expectations.

A Pattern of Strategic Hires

The news mirrors a similar action taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise development group.

Below is the complete text from the president's announcement:

Game Information and Vision

"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in live gameplay to suit your personal playstyle," the description explains. "Challenge the rivals with unique powers, risks, and obstacles that evolve every round. Do you withdraw carefully with your valuable rewards? Or go big, put it on the line, and hope your team can secure victory? The decision is yours."

Project Ethos has not yet received an official release date or consoles, but enthusiasts can expect additional details as production progresses.
